A DEVELOPER has called on Farnham to 'shake off its phobia of growth' and embrace more housing to help fund major improvements to the town's infrastructure. Several major housing developments have already been proposed in Farnham and the surrounding area since the failure of Waverley Borough Council's Core Strategy in 2013. And with the council consulting on plans to build between 1,800 and 3,800 new homes in the town over the next 17 years, many councillors and planning watchdogs have warned the town is ill-equipped to take on development on such a scale. However, speaking to The Herald this week, John Kelly, a senior land and planning manager at Wates Developments Ltd, said funding for major infrastructure improvements will only arrive if the town embraces growth.
