ALDERSHOT Town FC Football in the Community Trust is again offering local teenagers the chance to enjoy the summer of a lifetime with the National Citizen Service (NCS).
The four-week NCS programme, taking place this July and August, offers 16 and 17 year olds the opportunity to make new friends and try new activities such as archery, abseiling, climbing, canoeing and many more healthy lifestyle activities while giving something back to the community.
They will also improve their CV and gain experience that could improve future employment prospects, as well as earning UCAS recognition for university applications.
Places on the course cost just £50 thanks to government funding, including travel, food, clothing and all activities.
Participants will spend a week at PGL Liddington enjoying high ropes, raft building, archery and more, followed by a week at Reading University where they will continue learning skills such as self-defence, mental health awareness and cooking.
During the third week they will form a ‘social action’ plan, creating an event or fundraiser in order to give back to their community or charity of choice. This then gets implemented during the end of the third and fourth week.
The target is 30 hours of community work and they will receive a certificate signed by the Prime Minister during graduation once completing the course.
