The Lord Lieutenant was given an extensive tour of the centre by Simon Farrant, chairman of the Board of Trustees and had the opportunity to speak with many of the residents as well as staff and trustees, Brian Lowe and town councillor Carole Cockburn.
Mr More-Molyneux was taken to view the recently refurbished accommodation at the centre, which consists of 23 bedrooms, all with en suite wet rooms. Residents are also able to bring their own furniture and personalise their rooms, so they are all bright and cheerful.
The tour continued in the extensive grounds, where among other things Mr More-Molyneux was shown the Vitamin G Garden, which was created with the help of funding from Waverley Borough Council and Farnham Weyside Rotary Club, for the use of The Woodlarks Centre residents and people in the local community - especially those living with dementia.
In the activity centre, Mr More-Molyneux met a number of residents who had gathered there to meet him. Litan Lane, who has been a resident at the charity for four years, presented him with a camellia in a plant pot decorated with a mosaic which had been created by residents in the activity centre.
Another resident Jo Stringer, had just completed a 24-hour sponsored silence to raise funds for the charity and Mr More-Molyneux kindly sponsored her.
Chairman of trustees, Simon Farrant said “We were thrilled when Mr More-Molyneux accepted our invitation to visit The Woodlarks Centre. We thoroughly enjoyed his visit and were proud to give him a tour of all the facilities and to demonstrate the care we offer to the residents who live at Woodlarks.
“We thank him for his visit, which will help raise awareness of what we do and our profile within the local community.”
