HART Male Voice Choir based in Odiham has received £1,000 funding from CALA Homes, to support the choir’s 2018 charity concerts programme.

The donation has been made as part of the house-builder’s new bursary scheme.

The Hart Male Voice Choir was formed by a group of amateur singers in 1975 and has become one of the leading male voice choirs in the south of England enjoying success in national and international festivals and concerts.

It is a non-profit making organisation, with writer, broadcaster and Holybourne resident Alan Titchmarsh MBE as its choir president.

The CALA Community Bursary was launched last year and invited local charities, organisations and groups to apply for help to fund projects which make a vital difference in and around their communities.

Hart Male Voice Choir was chosen as one of the recipients.

John Kennedy, regional managing director for CALA Homes South Home Counties, said: “After receiving lots of amazing applications from many worthwhile causes, we faced an incredibly tough decision when selecting the final successful groups for the Community Bursary initiative.

“Supporting the communities in which we build is extremely important to us and with our new Sheldons Reach development nearby in Hook, it seemed a great opportunity to give something back to local residents.

“Community is firmly placed at the heart of CALA and the Hart Male Voice Choir perfectly mirrors this ethos. We are delighted to provide the funding they need to support their charity concerts programme which contributes so much to community life in and around Hart District and the south of England.”

David Bowden-Smith, publicity secretary at Male Hart Voice Choir, said: “We are delighted to have received this funding as part of CALA’s Community Bursary which will increase our capability to support local charities with entertaining fund-raising concerts throughout 2018.”
