FARNHAM has once again showed its generosity by donating a large number items to help refugees in the UK and overseas.

This was the sixth collection run by the Farnham Help for Refugees group since it came together in 2015.

There were enough donations to fill both a large van and car full of much-needed aid. The majority of the items joined those collected by Alton Aid, which will be shipped directly to Syria.

Some of the items went down to the Red Cross in Portsmouth, where they operate a twice-weekly drop-in for refugees and asylum seekers in the area.

Organisations including, Vale Furnishers, Boots, St Thomas-on-the Bourne Church, Nuffield Health and The Nappy Lady, were also keen to help out.

“We would like to thank residents and businesses from Farnham and the surrounding area for their amazing support once again,” commented organisers.

“And thank you again to those who also donated their time to sort and pack the donations on Thursday. Along with adults, there were several children who gave up a day of their half term holiday to help others in need.”
