TALENTED young dancers from the de Meric School of Dance in Farnham will take to the stage this winter after winning parts in a number of professional productions.
Fred Sweetman has gained a place at the Royal Ballet Associates at the Royal Ballet School in Convent Garden on Saturdays.
Jemima Magowan and Sofia Close Santos have successfully auditioned for the Surrey Youth Ballet production of Cinderella performing in November.
Rose Leonard has been chosen as a reserve for the Christmas pantomime at the Yvonne Arnaud in Guildford.
And Lily Jerome has received a part in Annie for the British Theatre Academy.
Many of de Meric’s hard-working pupils have also beaten off competition from hundreds of other young dancers to be named Cecchetti associates (for ‘grade 2’ ballet dancers and above) and scholars (grade 4 and above), after excelling in their annual ballet examinations.
Jemima Magowan and Lily Jerome won places as junior Cecchetti associates, as did Molly Penny and Toby Morris as reserves, while Saffiyah Hastings has become a senior associate. They will now have ballet classes once a month at Rambert School of Ballet & Theatre.
Another De Meric student, Sofia Close Santos, was named a Cecchetti scholar and will have classes once a week on Saturdays at Arts Ed Theatre School in Chiswick.
A de Meric spokesman said: “Our warmest wishes to all these talented, hard-working pupils, whose success has been so richly deserved.”
Auditions have recently taken place for the dance school’s next ballet production Cinderella, which will be performed next May at the Farnham Maltings.
