GREYFRIARS Vineyard has launched an “extra special” Cuvée Royale English sparkling wine to celebrate the forthcoming royal nuptials in Windsor.

The 2015 Cuvée Royale is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Greyfriars’ vineyards located on the sunny south facing chalk slopes of the Hog’s Back at Puttenham.

It has been aged in old oak barriques and only 2,400 individually numbered bottles have been made of this limited edition sparkling wine.

But despite its name, Greyfriars owner and winemaker Mike Wagstaff says the wine wasn’t originally created to celebrate the royal wedding.

“The working name for the wine was always Cuvée Royale, as we sensed it was going to be something special,” he said. “Now we have come to release this wine is particularly appropriate in light of the forthcoming royal wedding.”

Greyfriars Vineyard 2015 Cuvée Royale is available now priced £30 per single bottle from www.greyfriarsvineyard.co.uk or from the Greyfriars shop.
