AFTER Thursday’s by-elections Farnham Town Council is set to welcome back former member David Beaman, after he was reselected to represent the Farnham Castle Town Ward.
David Beaman received a total of 556 votes, while Matthew Elliott (Conservative) got 277 votes, Howard Kaye (Labour and Co-operative Party) polled 86 votes and George Hesse (UKIP) 47 votes.
Leader of Farnham Residents Jerry Hyman, son of Mike Hyman, Farnham town councillor for the Hale and Heath End Ward, was selected as a borough councillor for the Farnham Castle Ward after securing 386 votes.
Under 100 votes away was Stewart Edge (Liberal Democrats) with 292, Nicholas Le Gal was next with 229 and in fourth place was George Hesse with 43.
The Mayor of Farnham, John Ward (Farnham Residents), will have a busy year ahead of him after he was selected as a borough councillor for the Farnham Shortheath and Bondstone Ward, polling 356 votes.
Donal O’Neill (Conservative) came in second with 233 votes, while Sylvia Jacobs (Liberal Democrats) secured third place with 90. Andrew Jones clocked up 43 votes, while Jim Burroughs received 26 votes.
Conservative Wyatt Ramsdale has won the Surrey County Council by-election for the Farnham South Division. He was elected as the county councillor after securing 932 votes – 178 more than nearest rival Jerry Hyman (Farnham Residents).
Joanne Aylwin (Liberal Democrat) came in third with 269 votes, followed by Mark Westcott (Independent) with 139 votes. Paul Chapman (UK Independence Party) secured 89 votes, with Fabian Wood (Labour) following closely behind with 77 votes.
The by-election was called after David Munro (Conservative) stood down following his election as the Police and Crime Commissioner for Surrey. The two other positions for borough and town came after the resignation of Paddy Blagden due to ill-health.
