This refurbished 19th century home once housed the muse of a local author - and now it could belong to you.

The cottage, on Old Church Lane in Farnham, dates back to 1850 and was home to gardener Fred Grover, who worked for local author George Sturt.

George, who sometimes wrote under the name George Bourne, decided that Fred would be an interesting subject for his writing, and so observed and recorded his life.

Calling Fred ‘Bettesworth’, George wrote the Bettesworth series of books, including ‘Memoirs of a Surrey Labourer’ (1907), about his gardener.

Fred lived in the cottage with his wife Lucy, who unfortunately died young due to epilepsy.

Outside, there is a lawned garden mainly laid to lawn with a block patio, adjoining a stream and a footpath to Deepdene and Frensham Road.
