THE Rotary Club of Farnham has reported an encouraging response to its Cyclathon event launched in The Herald on January 1.

Around 40 teams have already expressed interest, ranging from the Whitlock family, comprising father and three sons, the trustees of the Dempster Trust, the staff of The Bush Hotel and the pupils of Waverley Abbey School.

There is still time to enter a team, and for individuals to prepare to ride an exercise bike for an average of twelve and a half minutes on Saturday, February 27.

Many people are doing it as part of their new year resolution to get fitter.

Details on how to enter are available on the Rotary Club of Farnham website at www.rotaryfarnham.co.uk.

The club would be interested to hear from any sponsors who cannot find teams, or individuals who would like to join a team.

Thee president of the Rotary Club of Farnham, Ian Sargeant, said: “This is off to a good start. We are very excited by the enthusiastic response of the community to the possibility of taking some exercise and benefiting important local charities. My four sons-in-law are entering the family category.”

The charities to benefit from the fundraising will be the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care and the breast cancer unit at Frimley Park Hospital.
