SIX intrepid cyclists took part in the sixth annual Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 in aid of Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice last weekend.
The sextet - including Jon Fox pictured left - saddled up on Sunday, July 29, joining the throng of more than 25,000 cyclists taking part in this year’s ride and raising more than £3,000 for the Farnham-based hospice charity.
The 100-mile route, which starts at the Queen Elizabeth Park in London and finishes on The Mall, took on much of the route made famous by the London 2012 Olympic road cycling races, including challenging ascents of Box Hill and Leith Hill.
Most cyclists ride for charities and the £3,000-plus raised for Phyllis Tuckwell will help fund the supportive and end of life care it provides for patients and families in West Surrey and North East Hampshire.
This £3,000 could for instance provide hospice care for two patients at home.
“We would like to thank all of the cyclists who took part in this epic ride in aid of Phyllis Tuckwell,” said Samantha West, community fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care.
“Their sponsorship will help us to continue to care for local patients and families who are living with an advanced or terminal illness.”
