THE identity of a mystery storm trooper, seen jogging around Odiham – and at Pinewood Studios (pictured) – has been revealed.
The Star Wars character sparked an internet sensation, when film of him pounding the pavements found its way onto popular website The Lad Bible. The video, taken by a passer-by, got more than two million views.
It turns out the space invader was actually training for the London marathon. And the man behind the mask has been revealed as none other than Squadron Leader Jez Allinson from RAF Odiham.
“I’m just a guy who is a bit of a Star Wars geek, who had a crazy idea to run the London marathon for an amazing kids charity,” confessed super trooper Jez.
“I guess the big message I want to get out there is not ‘Hey, look at me’, but more ’Look how great Make A Wish UK is’.”
The charity has done well out of the flyer’s viral video. Instead of the £2,000 in sponsorship he set out to raise, £5,200 has flooded in.
The purpose of the charity is to grant magical wishes to enrich the lives of young people with a life–threatening condition. Its magic wand has conjured up the chance for children to star in their own films, to walk with dinosaurs and to meet celebrity heroes.
“The charity is doing a lovely thing for kids, and supporting long– suffering parents,” said the squadron leader.
Jez Allinson’s Just Giving page is still open for donations and can be found at justgiving.com/theforceawakens.
