Tony Blackburn – who introduced the BBC to pop music when he played the first record on Radio 1 in 1967 – is bringing that pioneering era back to life by hosting the Sounds Of The 60s Live concert at G Live in Guildford on January 26 at 7.30pm.

Still drawing a big audience on Radio 2 by playing the greatest songs of the 1960s, Tony will welcome The Sounds Of The 60s All-Star Band And Singers on to the stage to perform them live.

With next year marking the 60th anniversary of his first broadcast on pirate radio station Radio Caroline South in 1964, Tony Blackburn is remembered as a defining voice of the 1960s.

His incredible career has seen him present on Radio 1 and Top Of The Pops, and since 2017 he has presented Sounds Of The 60s on Radio 2, which is a hugely popular show on BBC radio.

A champion in particular of soul music throughout the 1960s, Tony has been recognised with 37 awards including becoming the first person to receive two Gold Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Radio.

He was also crowned the first King of the Jungle by winning the original series of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

The Sounds Of The 60s All-Star Band And Singers will play classic hits from the likes of The Everly Brothers, Dusty Springfield, The Kinks, Elvis Presley, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Otis Redding, Petula Clark, The Who, Neil Sedaka, The Dave Clark Five, The Beatles, The Crystals, The Drifters, Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder, Andy Williams, Manfred Mann, The Monkees, The Searchers, The Rolling Stones, The Hollies, The Beach Boys, Roy Orbison, Love Affair, The Mamas and The Papas, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, Simon and Garfunkel, Ray Charles, Georgie Fame, The Shirelles, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, Cilla Black, Wilson Pickett and The Temptations.
