THE Wrecclesham village fete was bathed in sunshine last week, as visitors enjoyed a lively mix of music, exhibits and entertainment.

The fete was opened by Wrecclesham Cricket Club chairman Joe Boniface and councillor Wyatt Ramsdale on Sunday, June 25, and filled the village recreation ground with the sounds of the Farnham Town Band, the Rowledge hand bell ringers and Jackstraws morris dancers.

Exhibitions by the District Model Railway Club, Abbots Cars and artists, including many based at Farnham Pottery, delighted young and old, as did various charity and commercial stalls.

Children were occupied with the ever popular donkey rides, face painting and Dylan’s ice cream, while the adults indulged in the tea tent and bar where the cocktails and mocktails were enjoyed and complimented by the Wrecclesham Cricket Club barbecue.

The coconut shy was so popular the coconuts ran out, and the arena was engulfed with children’s races and the popular dog show which gathered a large crowd.

A silent auction added to the fun and air cadets from the 229 ATC squadron helped make sure the day ran smoothly.

Gail Whattingham, one of the organisers, said: “Our thanks to our sponsors this year, without whose help we could not have put on such a great event.”

She added: “If anyone would like to be involved in our 2018 village fete we would love to hear from you. Please email paula.dunsmore@btinter
