HEADING for new heights, former England cricketer Phil Tufnell will be taking on yet another hair-raising challenge when he takes part in charity abseil at Guildford Cathedral on Saturday.

The 49-year-old sportsman is no stranger to taking on challenges and is abseiling in aid of The Children’s Trust charity for children with brain injury.

Following his recent experience on ITV show The Jump, he revealed he was not very good with heights and had found the whole experience terrifying.

Phil “The Cat” will be joined by his wife, Dawn, who has always wanted to do a once-in-a-lifetime abseil challenge.

The first part of the challenge starts with a 249-step climb to reach the top of the cathedral tower, with its views over Guildford and surrounding areas, before abseiling the 160ft tower.

Phil, an ambassador of The Children’s Trust, said: “Dawn and I would be delighted for more people to take part in the abseil to help raise money for some special children with brain injury who receive rehabilitation at the charity’s national specialist centre based in Tadworth.”
