THE subject of the Farnham Building Preservation Trust’s annual Verney Memorial lecture, on Monday, October 23, in the Barley Room, Farnham Maltings, is the fire which devastated historic Clandon Park on April 25, 2015.

The speaker will be Alex Bush of the National Trust, general manager of Clandon Park, who worked as part of the salvage effort on the night of the fire, and is part of the Clandon project team today.

She will give a window into what is the National Trust’s biggest ever restoration project, describing Clandon before the fire, the fire itself and the subsequent salvage of the building and collection, as well as some of the fascinating things that have been discovered since the fire, the National Trust’s vision for Clandon’s future and the plans for the restoration.

Tickets for the talk on Monday, October 23, are £10 including refreshments, available in advance from the box office at Farnham Maltings, or at the door on the night. Doors open at 6.30pm for refreshments and the talk will start at 7pm.
