HARTLEY Arts Group and its young performers have put on another production to remember.
The group’s YoungStars have been working hard for the past five months on their latest production, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
The play based on the 1950 fantasy novel by CS Lewis and one of the seven books in The Chronicles of Narnia collection, went down a storm to an audience of more than 100 people.
The cast of approximately 30 children put on two shows in the Victoria Hall, Hartley Wintney, on Saturday.
It was well supported with approximately 50 people at the matinee performance and 110 in the evening.
The children, aged between six and 16, worked extremely hard together to achieve a great show, which was supported backstage by the team on make up, props, sound, lighting and costume design by the BTEC performing arts students from Yateley Secondary school’s Park Bench Productions.
Helen Lewis, YoungStars’ director, said: “Well done to everyone! There have been some lovely comments from our audience who really enjoyed and appreciated the hard work they have all put in over the past few months!
“It was a complex production but the children all coped with the demands that we placed on them and as I’m sure everyone will agree, it was worth it!
“The children should be very proud of themselves, Lesley and I are certainly very proud of them.
“They have all worked together so well, considering there are many different age groups among them, and lots of them go to different schools, so hopefully they have made some new friends too
“What an adventure we had!”
For any children who are interested in joining the local arts group, the Youngstars meet during term time on Tuesdays from 4.30pm-6pm in the Victoria Hall in Hartley Wintney and start back on September 13.
It costs £2 per week and the first session is free. Children of all levels of experience can learn stage craft, dance, sound, lighting techniques, backstage skills and programme design.
