Aldershot Town moved into the National League play-off places with a superb 5-1 win against Tamworth.

Goals from Brody Peart, Michee Efete (2) and Marcus Dinanga (2) fired the Shots to an emphatic win in front of a crowd of 2,208 at the EBB Stadium.

The Shots took the lead in the second minute. Hakeem Sandah’s through ball put Peart in on goal, and Peart took the ball past Tamworth keeper Jas Singh before slotting into the empty net.

The hosts nearly scored a second when Sandah’s cross was helped on by Dinanga to Marcus Wyllie, whose effort was saved by Singh.

Aldershot doubled their advantage on 20 minutes when Conor Lawless whipped a free-kick into a dangerous area and Efete tapped the ball in after some confusion in Tamworth’s defence.

The Shots went 3-0 up in the 33rd minute when Peart’s cross found Dinanga at the back post, and Dinanga applied the finish from close range.

Aldershot scored a fourth before half-time when Lawless’ free-kick found Efete, who scored on 44 minutes to make it 4-0.

The visitors had the first effort at goal of the second half, but Nathan Tshikuna’s effort failed to trouble Shots keeper Nick Hayes as it flew just over the bar.

The Shots were soon back on the front foot and went 5-0 up in the 51st minute. Sandah’s shot forced a good save from Singh, but Dinanga arrived at the back post to tap the ball in for his second of the afternoon.

Aldershot were reduced to ten men on 79 minutes when Kiki Oshilaja received a second yellow card.

Tamworth pulled a goal back in stoppage time when Ben Acquaye’s deflected shot from the edge of the area beat Hayes.
