Aldershot Town manager Scott Davies was delighted after his side moved into the National League play-off places with an emphatic 5-1 win against Tamworth.

The Shots raced into a 4-0 lead before half-time at the EBB Stadium, and Davies was delighted with his side’s display.

“I think the performance was outstanding, and that took care of the result,” said Davies.

“I thought we were a lot more clean in the final third.

“I thought Hakeem Sandah started it off with a great run and pass to Brody Peart, and that just set the tone.

“We scored a couple of goals from set pieces, which is always pleasing. There were so many positives.

“I thought everyone was outstanding – it’s nice when it all comes together.

“I felt as though there was going to be a performance like that at some point.

“I’m annoyed with the goal we conceded at the end because I’m a bit of a perfectionist, but if someone had said to me we would win 5-1 at home to Tamworth I would have snapped their hand off.

“To win 5-1 in this division at any time is difficult.

“I told the boys I want them to dominate the ball, and I thought we did that for large spells in the first half. Ultimately, that’s what’s got us the reward.

“Overall, it was a five-star performance. I’m really happy with the lads.

“We went with two strikers and two wingers and were aggressive in our shape.

“We spoke about getting the ball wide – I’ve made it clear that we want to live off crosses.

“The lads stuck to the ideas. Overall, I’m really pleased. I couldn’t be more happy with the lads.

“The boys have to take the compliments and the plaudits.

“I knew that performance was there – I can see the levels they’re capable of.”
