Aldershot Town manager Scott Davies admitted he was frustrated after his side's six-game unbeaten run in the National League ended with a 1-0 defeat at Barrow.

Rekeem Harper’s 64th-minute goal was enough to give the Bluebirds all three points at Holker Street.

“It’s a really difficult one to sum up without being too critical of the lads,” said Davies.

“The goal we conceded is really disappointing – it’s really poor from our end.

“I felt as though up until Barrow scored we were probably edging it, just about. I felt we were quite controlled defensively.

“After that we threw the kitchen sink at it in terms of the changes we made, but the changes impacted us for the worse.

“I thought the substitutes were really poor – and I've told them that. You hope for a reaction when players come on with fresh legs and energy. We looked bereft of ideas, really sloppy and really scruffy.

“It's a bit of a false game for the last 20 minutes where we're throwing bodies forward and it becomes a bit of a counter-attacking game. It was hugely disappointing.

“I'm disappointed for us as a coaching team and I'm disappointed for the players, because I think some of them come out of it with a fair bit of credit, but I'm more disappointed for the fans.

“It's one of those afternoons where you feel a little bit deflated – I don't think we've been played off the park.

“We knew what to expect. The lads faced up to it for a long period of time, but the first goal in the game was always going to be crucial.

“We should be getting back on the bus with a point, but we've not managed to do that.

“I feel hugely frustrated – a lapse of concentration has ultimately cost us.”
