Farnham Town exited the FA Cup with a shock 2-1 defeat at home to Hellenic League Premier Division outfit Cirencester Town in their second qualifying round replay.

Darryl Sanders gave the Town an early lead, but Harlie Price’s double secured Cirencester’s progress at The Memorial Ground.

The Town had the first attempt at goal of the evening in the second minute, when Sanders dragged his right-footed shot wide of the left-hand post from 20 yards out.

Farnham took the lead on 14 minutes when Owen Dean slid in Bobby-Joe Taylor down the right and Taylor cut the ball back to Sanders, who fired home his finish past Cirencester keeper Connor Johns from six yards out.

The Town nearly doubled their advantage two minutes later when Dean drove forward down the right and cut the ball back to Rakish Bingham, who spun sharply and hit a low right-footed shot across goal which Johns did well to parry behind for a corner.

Farnham almost scored an unusual goal in the 18th minute when Mat Mackenzie's cross from the right rattled the crossbar.

The visitors had their first opportunity of the evening a minute later when the ball dropped to Sol Pryce in the box, but he blasted his effort over the bar.

The Town went close on 28 minutes when Sam Hutchinson’s ball over the top was flicked back by Taylor to Dean, who fired his powerful half-volley over the bar.

Farnham had another opportunity five minutes later when Mackenzie's long throw-in from the right found Dean, whose header goalwards was well held by Johns.

The Town’s next opportunity arrived in the 39th minute when Hutchinson’s cross into the box found Bingham, who trapped the ball well and worked a yard of space before blazing his effort over the bar.

Farnham had another chance two minutes later when Sanders put Dean through on goal, but he was denied by a superb last-ditch tackle.

Another Mackenzie long throw caused the visitors problems soon afterwards, but Cirencester managed to scramble the ball away.

The visitors got back on level terms in first-half stoppage time when Price calmly slotted his finish past Town keeper Michael Eacott into the back of the net.

Farnham manager Paul Johnson made one substitution at half-time, with skipper Ryan Kinnane replacing Hutchinson.

Cirencester had the first effort at goal of the second half in the 48th minute, when Pryce's ambitious long-range free-kick was parried away by Eacott.

The visitors had another opportunity on 58 minutes when Rhys Wells cut in from the left and hit a right-footed shot goalwards which Eacott did well to parry away to safety.

Johnson made a triple change in the 63rd minute, with Jack Spong, Erion Zabeli and Josh Tobin replacing Mackenzie, Aaron Williams Fernandez and Bingham.

Farnham nearly scored six minutes later when Wells failed to deal with Mason’s cross to the back post and the ball fell to Taylor, who swivelled sharply and fired a low effort goalwards which was well held by Johns.

The Town went even closer on 73 minutes when a free-flowing move saw Taylor, Billy Clifford and Sanders combine in the box before Sanders’ right-footed shot across goal hit the far post with Johns rooted to the spot.

Farnham almost regained their lead in the 84th minute when Zabeli whipped in a superb cross which find Dean, whose powerful header hit the top of the crossbar and went over.

The Town had another opportunity on 89 minutes when Spong’s free-kick found Louie Holzman at the back post, who headed over the bar.

The visitors scored a late winner in the 90th minute when Price clinically slotted home his second of the evening past Eacott.

Farnham hit the woodwork again in stoppage time, but Cirencester held on to reach the next round.
