Farnham Town manager Paul Johnson thinks his side's two-week break between matches has come at an ideal time.

Sam Hutchinson and Jack Spong both missed Farnham’s 2-1 defeat against Salisbury on Saturday after picking up injuries in the Town’s 2-2 draw against Truro City.

The duo are the latest names on Farnham’s injury list, with the Town particularly short of options in defensive positions.

The Town aren’t in action again until they host Braintree Town in the National League South on Saturday, October 24 (3pm kick-off), owing to their FA Cup exit against Cirencester Town earlier this season .

Johnson believes the two-week break between matches has come at an ideal time for his injury-hit squad.

“It's a blessing in disguise,” said Johnson. “It’s great timing for us to reset and reassess.

“The injury list is worrying. Jack Spong has got some ligament pain down the outside of his left ankle and was a big miss against Salisbury.

“Sam Hutchinson is also a big miss with his hamstring, but hopefully we might have Sam and Jack back by the time we play again.”

The Town have added to their squad with the arrivals of striker George Alexander from Hornchurch and winger Jordan Alves from Aldershot Town, and Johnson was pleased to get both deals over the line.

“It was pleasing to get George in,” said Johnson. “We've chased him for quite a while, and we've got him in.

“He almost had his big moment against Salisbury, but every time the ball was in the box his movement showed he's going to be a real asset for us.

“Jordan had a breakthrough season at Westfield. We followed him and went for him at the time, but didn't quite get him and he went to Bath.

“He's come in and it's more new faces in the building. It's good to have him.”
