Farnham Town’s six-game unbeaten run in the National League South came to an end with a narrow 2-1 defeat at home to Salisbury.
Rakish Bingham gave the Town an early lead, but second-half goals from Josh Hedges and Nathan Odokonyero earned the visitors all three points in front of a crowd of 1,508 at The Memorial Ground.
The visitors were quick out of the traps and nearly scored in the opening minute, when Odokonyero’s left-footed shot forced a smart save from Farnham keeper Michael Eacott, who parried the ball behind for a corner.
The Town took the lead on eight minutes when Conrad Hunt drove forward down the right and cut the ball back across the box to Bingham, who confidently swept his first-time right-footed finish into the bottom left-hand corner of the net past Salisbury keeper Will Henry.
The Whites nearly got back on level terms in the 19th minute when Hedges’ right-footed free-kick from a tight angle was kept out by a strong hand from Eacott at his near post.
Salisbury had another decent opportunity three minutes later, but Jaiden Bartolo dragged his right-footed shot across goal wide of the far post.
The visitors went close again on 24 minutes, when Robbie Gallagher’s right-footed effort hit the side netting at the near post.
Salisbury had another effort at goal three minutes later, when Odokonyero spun sharply and fired his right-footed shot from distance comfortably over the bar.
Farnham manager Paul Johnson made one change at half-time, with Darryl Sanders replacing Hunt.
The Town had the first opportunity of the second half in the 48th minute when Billy Clifford stood a cross up to Bingham, who couldn’t direct his glancing header on target.
Farnham had an excellent chance on 51 minutes when Clifford played new arrival George Alexander in on goal, but Henry took the ball off Alexander as he tried to go round Salisbury’s keeper.
The Whites got back on level terms a minute later when Hedges curled his right-footed finish from the edge pf the box into the right-hand corner of the net past Eacott.
The Town nearly regained the lead in the 54th minute when Sanders fired his powerful effort from a tight angle just over the bar.

The visitors took the lead in the 63rd minute when Odokonyero was played in on goal and clinically drilled his low right-footed finish through the legs of Eacott into the back of the net.
Farnham looked for a way to get back on level terms and created a decent chance on 65 minutes when Sanders set the ball back to Alexander, who fired his effort over the bar from just outside the box.
Johnson then made his second substitution of the afternoon, with new recruit Jordan Alves replacing Bobby-Joe Taylor.
The Town continued to push and went close in the 68th minute when Brandon Mason headed the ball into space to Sanders, whose low volley was well held by Henry at his near post.
Johnson made his third change on 70 minutes, with Trae Cook-Appiah replacing Alexander.
Cook-Appiah nearly made an immediate impact three minutes later, when he cut inside and worked a yard of space before firing a powerful right-footed effort goalwards which was parried away by Henry.
The Town went even closer in the 75th minute when Sanders’ superb ball sent Bingham through on goal, and Bingham’s right-footed effort cannoned off the inside of the right-hand post.
Johnson made his fourth substitution of the afternoon on 81 minutes, with Miles Obodo replacing Bingham.
The White nearly scored a third in the 87th minute when Gallagher cut inside from the left and hit a right-footed effort goalwards which was kept out by Eacott.
Farnham then went straight down the other end of the pitch and nearly equalised when Obodo brought down Mason’s cross and the ball dropped to Cook-Appiah, whose effort was deflected behind for a corner.
The Town went close again on 89 minutes when Clifford’s corner was headed out to Obodo, whose low effort from the edge of the box was deflected behind for another corner.
Farnham then went even closer in the 90th minute when Obodo battled past a number of challenges before seeing his effort dribble across the face of goal.
The Town continued to push for a late leveller, but the visitors held on to claim all three points and end Farnham’s unbeaten run.
Next up for Farnham is a home game against Braintree Town in the National League South on Saturday, October 24 (3pm kick-off).
