Farnham Town have signed defender Marcel Lavinier on a short-term deal.

The 25-year-old defender came through the academy system at Chelsea and featured for the club’s under-18, under-19 and under-23 sides before joining Tottenham on a free transfer in 2020, where he made his senior football debut during a 4-0 win against Wolfsburger AC in the Europa League in February 2021.

The former England youth international completed a permanent transfer to Swindon Town in the summer of 2022, scoring twice in 25 appearances for the Robins.

Lavinier joined fellow League Two side Forest Green Rovers in the summer of 2023, before joining National League outfit Yeovil Town on a free transfer in March 2025 and playing in eight of Yeovil’s final 11 games of the season.

Lavinier stayed in the National League last season, joining Boston United, where he made 29 appearances over the course of the 2025-26 campaign.

“Adding a player of Marcel’s pedigree to our playing group at this stage of the season gives everyone a left,” said Farnham Town chairman Harry Hugo.

“Marcel boasts a decorated career at youth level during his time with Chelsea and Tottenham before breaking into the senior game.

“After multiple seasons in the Football League, Marcel also has experience at National League level over the past two seasons.

“He’s spent his entire career playing at Step 1 level as a professional footballer, and that sort of experience will be invaluable to our group.

“We’ve had some horror luck with injuries this season especially among our defensive options, so bringing Marcel in at this time equips Paul Johnson with another excellent option, and one that could step in at multiple positions with extensive experience at left-back despite being a right-back by trade.

“Everyone’s really looking forward to seeing what Marcel brings to the table and I can’t wait to see him in action.”
